Residential Yoga Sangraha
Teacher Training in India 2025
Join us in India at the heavenly Lakulish Yoga Ashram for a nine-day, fully immersive teacher training. Situated on the banks of the Ganga River near Haridwar, North India, this training will be an immersion into classical yoga teachings along with Indian culture and spirituality. Each day will include asana, pranayama, meditation, lectures, vegetarian meals, bathing in the Ganga, and evening Ganga arati with the local devotees of the ashram. There will be teaching practices, feedback, and wonderful community building at the foothills of the Himalayas, the gateway to the Gods.
This training will give you a solid base for teaching the Yoga Sangraha Level One Beginners class, an entry-level, accessible yoga sequence that is geared towards regulating the nervous system, calming the mind, and preparing one for meditation. Once you complete the training and have passed the teaching evaluation, you’ll be able and ready to start teaching when you get back to your home. Teaching support is provided through our WhatsApp groups, weekly student teaching gatherings on Zoom, and through our yearly online courses.Â
We believe that this cultural immersion in India, even though it’s a short time, is an essential part of becoming a yoga teacher, so we encourage you to consider coming to India if possible.
The Residential Teacher Training in India is open to all, either for your personal experience or to receive a Beginner Yoga Sangraha teaching certificate. If you are interested to learn how to teach the full Level 1 sequence, or what would be considered an Open Level Class, you may take the Yoga Sangraha course online as Self-Paced Learning. After you complete the course and exam, we will give you an online evaluation, and once you pass, you will receive an additional certificate.Â
This training focuses on the asana aspect of teaching, though you will also practice pranayama, meditation, chanting, and learn about philosophy. If you would like to learn how to teach pranayama and aspects of the philosophy, then you may complete the modules below online, along with the residential training:
1. Indian Philosophical Module
2. Yoga Sangraha Module
3. Pranayama Level 1 ModuleÂ

Visas, Health, Waiver, Money
Visas: You are responsible for acquiring the required tourist visa. eVisas are easier, quicker, and less expensive. You can only apply for a Tourist eVisa within 30 days of travel to India. If you think you will go to India more often, get a longer Tourist eVisa or a 10-year multiple-entry Tourist Visa. Please check with your Indian Embassy, or for more information, see https://indianvisaonline.gov.in.
Health Concerns: You may be subject to jet lag, varied climatic conditions, bumpy train and bus rides, dust and air pollution, very different food, crowds of people, unfamiliar sights and sounds. These all take their toll and can be overwhelming for the first-time visitor to India. Still, the incredible hospitality, warm humanity, and abundant spirituality always come through and touches everyone deeply and mysteriously. Bring what comforts you in the way of any health needs or medications: anti-diarrhea tablets, mosquito repellent, sun block, basic first-aid items, etc. In case of emergencies, doctors and pharmacies can be found. If you have any medications that you need, you must bring them with you. Bottled water is always available for you to purchase, but please carry a water bottle that you can refill to minimize plastic use. Contact us if you have any special health concerns. Here is a good website for travelers with health concerns: www.shoreland.com/
Immunizations and Travel Waiver: No immunizations are required, but several are recommended by the Atlanta CDC.
What to Bring. Pack as lightly as possible. Bring a yoga mat. The weather will be warm to hot, but it may rain. A travel umbrella is good for rain and shade. Passport and money must be kept securely. Have a copy of the info and visa pages of your passport. Call your bank to tell them that you are traveling in India. There are ATMs everywhere. But as the ATMs are not always reliable, or easy to find, you should bring the equivalent of about $200 – $500 US, in your currency, to change into Indian rupees to have on hand for shopping and sundry discretionary expenses (tips, chai, etc.) It is easiest to change money at the airport upon arrival. If you need an Indian SIM for your mobile, you can do that at the airport as well.
