Join us in India at the heavenly Lakulish Yoga Ashram for a nine-day, fully immersive teacher training. Situated on the banks of the Ganga near Haridwar, North India, this training will be an immersion into both classical yoga teachings along with Indian culture and spirituality. Each day will include asana, pranayama, meditation, lectures, vegetarian meals, bathing in the Ganga, and evening Ganga arati with the local devotees of the ashram. There will be teaching practices, feedback, and wonderful community building at the foothills of the Himalayas, the gateway to the Gods.
This training will give you a solid base for teaching the Yoga Sangraha Level One Beginners class, an entry-level, accessible yoga sequence that is geared towards regulating the nervous system, calming the mind, and preparing one for meditation. Once you complete the training and have passed the teaching evaluation, you’ll be able and ready to start teaching when you get back to your homes. Teaching support is provided through our WhatsApp groups, weekly student teaching gatherings on Zoom, and through our yearly online courses.Â
If you would like to receive a certificate to teach the full Level 1 sequence, you can take the Yoga Sangraha module online as self-paced learning, have another online evaluation, and then increase your level of teaching. In addition, you can also add on the Level One Pranayama course as self-paced learning, have an evaluation, and begin to teach that as well.
During this training, we will follow a daily schedule of meditation, pranayama, asanas, lectures, and most importantly, teaching practice. This will be a time to build community, get to know your fellow students, learn to articulate yourself as a teacher, and get feedback on your teaching skills. For those who cannot make it to India, we will hold a similar course in NYC. However, we believe that this cultural immersion in India, even though it’s a short time, is an important part of becoming a yoga teacher, so we encourage you to try to make it to India if you can.
