July 10 – 19, 2026. Full days!
This is the first Level 2 training held by YEC. The training builds on foundational asanas, introducing progressive sequencing and in-depth study of expanded versions of postures from Level 1. You will explore safe approaches to forward bends, backbends, twists, and inversions, as well as the dynamic techniques for strength and mobility. The curriculum covers biomechanics, injury prevention, and alignment principles, alongside integrated sequences and restorative practices. Practice will include regular peer teaching, feedback sessions, and personal study. There will be emphasis on teaching methodology, inclusive language, and developing a unique teaching voice, with case studies and class design exercises.
Limited to 40 people. Only open to Level 1 graduates.
If you have not completed and graduated from the Level 1 training, please do not register for this course; instead, complete the Level 1 training first.Â
You will learn:
- Principles of sequencing for mixed-level and specialty classes
- Options for asanas due to physical limitations
- Anatomy for dynamic and static poses
- Level 2 sequencing
- Incorporating subtle body concepts (chakras, koshas, prana flow) into physical practice
- How to teach the yoga, strength, and sun salutation classes
Practice will include regular peer teaching, feedback sessions, and personal study. There will be emphasis on teaching methodology, inclusive language, and developing a unique teaching voice, with case studies and class design exercises.
The level 2 Pranayama will build on Level 1 fundamentals. This training focuses on advanced breathing techniques, longer retentions (kumbhaka), energetic locks (bandhas), and cleansing practices (kriyas). You will study the scientific, anatomical, and energetic principles behind these methods, applying both classical Hatha texts and modern research.
Key topics and skills include:
- Mastery of bhastrika, kapalabhati, anuloma-viloma, and viloma breathing
- Structured pranayama sequencing and integrating bandhas/mudras
- Using pranayama for mental/emotional regulation and energetic balance
- Deepening understanding of breath chemistry (COâ‚‚/Oâ‚‚ balance, nitric oxide, nervous system impact)
- Teaching progressions, safety, and therapeutic applications for individuals and groups
Participants will engage in daily guided practice, teaching practicums, and group discussions. Special focus is placed on self-inquiry, self-regulation, and sharing these advanced techniques with clarity and ethical responsibility.
