What you will learn in Pranayama Level 1 SPL
The Pranayama Level 1 SPL offers a comprehensive, two-month training designed to empower practitioners and future teachers with a deep, scientific, and traditional understanding of pranayama. Participants explore the history and definitions of pranayama, learn about the sariras and panchakoshas (three bodies and five sheaths), and study the nadis and chakras—the subtle energy channels and centers fundamental to yoga. The course covers anatomy and physiology of breathing, mechanisms and muscles involved, the nose and nostrils as organs of breath, and the lungs as vital organs for gas exchange. Students examine breathing regulation, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, and blood pH levels, alongside comprehensive knowledge of the nervous system and the vagal nerve complex. Heart rate variability and its role in breath practices are detailed, giving a scientific approach to ancient techniques.
Throughout, learners receive systematic instruction in essential pranayamas, with practical teaching methods, effects on the body and mind, and guidance from classical yoga texts including the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita. The program offers best practices in teaching—from language choices to tips for overcoming obstacles and achieving success in yoga. Personal experiences, resources, and reminders support ongoing practice and skill development, culminating in the tools and confidence needed to teach and inspire others in pranayama.

What you will learn in Yoga Sangraha Level 1 SPL
The Yoga Sangraha Level 1 Certificate course is a comprehensive two-month training that blends scientific inquiry with traditional yoga wisdom, empowering both new and experienced practitioners to understand and teach yoga authentically. The curriculum delves into the deep roots and definitions of yoga, drawing from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and exploring the philosophy of asanas across India’s diverse yoga traditions. Students study basic anatomy and physiology relevant to asana, methods to safely strengthen and mobilize the body, and learn non-adjustment-based teaching methodologies for inclusive classes. The course covers yoga practices for back pain, detailed instruction in sun salutation sequences, and foundational approaches for creating safe, effective asana classes. Participants receive teaching scripts, practical guidance, and a philosophical overview to contextualize asana practice within a broader journey of self-realization and holistic wellbeing. Supported by weekly live sessions, practice videos, and expert instructors, this immersive track builds the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary for teaching with clarity, compassion, and expertise.

- The various asana traditions of India have been articulated in multiple ways over the past two thousand years. Asanas are an integral part of a larger spiritual quest in Indic literature and have always been used to firmly fix one’s body and mind in the direction of self-realization. However, the conceptions of realization differ from tradition to tradition. An overview of the different traditions will give you an enhanced understanding of how and why we do asanas and will complement the experiential component of the Level 1 practices.
